Live window illustration for Craghoppers to celebrate World Oceans Day
Window Painting - drawing on glass in Edinburgh
A few weeks ago, Craghoppers got in touch to see if I would be able to help them create a window installation for their shiny new flagship store in Edinburgh.
I said yes!
The window was themed around sea life and protecting the Galapagos Swimway. Craghoppers support the work of The Galapagos Conservation Trust, who very kindly sent me loads of brilliant photos and videos of sharks, turtles to get inspiration from.
The scalloped hammerhead sharks’ population is decreasing - so it’s more important than ever to keep plastic OOT of the sea, and protect the Galapagos Swimway. It goes all the way from Cocos Island to Galapago. It’s a huuuuuge stretch of sea.
Mindfully Made - eco friendly environmental illustration
Creating the design for this window was an education.
50,000,000 plastic bottles have been diverted from landfill and oceans and turned into clothing (by Craghoppers).
All of their clothing is 100% PFC free
The clothes have a lifetime guarantee :)

Galapagos Conservation Trust - protecting the Galapagos Swimway
The Galapagos Conservation Trust are doing so many projects to help protect the Galapagos Swimway and all of the species in and around it. Click here to read more about their projects and the work they’re doing.
The Galapagos Archipelago is a unique and pristine ecosystem. These Islands provided the inspiration for Charles Darwin’s ground-breaking theory of evolution and became the first ever UNESCO World Heritage Site. Galapagos Conservation Trust aims to protect the vulnerable ecosystems found on Galapagos by conserving species, restoring habitats and driving sustainable solutions.

Timelapse video of live illustration / window painting
Aaaand last but not least, here’s a video of me painting the window. Loads of concentration face. You’re welcome. It’s serious stuff, ok?
Many thanks to Ryan Blackwood for these magical timelapse videos!
p.s.
How do you paint and draw on windows?
I got asked this question soooo many times when I painted the Dove + Nespresso windows back in 2019, that I made an IGTV video that answers all the window painting questions!
Nae secrets.
In this video cover the materials I use, the best brushes, paints, pens. It’s all here.
The only bit I missed on that video was…
How do you remove the acrylic paint from the glass?
The dry paint cleans off really easily! Acrylic is permanent on clothing, but thankfully it comes off nice an’ clean from glass.
You can scrape it off with hot soapy water and an old credit card (or similar bit of hard scrapey thing that won’t damage the glass).
