Graphic recording at COP26

In November I was ABSOLUTELY BUZZIN’ to be invited to do some virtual remote graphic recording for The Scottish Parliament at COP26.

There were two events to cover, do you want the full titles? Ok here you go:

Code Red: The Role of Parliaments in the Climate & Ecological Emergencies.

and

Code Red for Parliaments: Vital Institutions in the Climate Emergency.

The second one was in partnership with the Nordic Council.

As always, I created a timelapse animation of the illustrations taking shape.

I love creating these videos!

One hour of scribing becomes ONE MINUTE of animation timelapse. You’re able to get people up to speed 60x faster than forcing them to sit through your whole event. While your event is probably briliant, not everybody has time to sit through an hour-long event. Also, if you’re speaking to an international audience, this is a way to get your points across the timezone divide.

One of my most commonly asked questions is, “Katie, how soon will we get the illustration and animation files after our event?”

I create these illustrations in real-time

So they’re ready immediately at the end of your event! If you want to show the illustration during the event that’s fine, or alternatively I’ll email your files over so you can distribute them via social media, email, your website, and wherever else you like online.

It takes me a couple of minutes to export the video and rename your files so they look tidy, so if you give me about 15-30 minutes that’s a nice realistic expectation for receiving your files.
