From in-person to online: live illustration for the virtual events world

Hey! Nice to see you.

I made this mini video portfolio/introduction to use at a talk The Good Ship Illustration are doing next week for Nottingham Trent University.

All about my virtual pivot to online event illustration

Transcript:

Hello, my name is Katie - enjoy this little mini video portfolio that I have made for you.

So, first things first I must show you how luscious my fringe was from an early age, and then the next thing that I wanted to share was this was one of my favorite jobs that I ever did. It was for Nespresso.

Nespresso had me go down to London and paint their windows to celebrate international recycling day

There was a film crew and they made an advert out of it and it was just very exciting - I felt very fancy.

In 2020, of course, everything changed I couldn't go to in-person events because of the pandemic.

So I switched my live illustration specialties to be virtual and online.

And now, since early 2020 I've been illustrating online at webinars and zoom meetings and yeah, it's been brilliant! And surreal!

I've worked for some big clients from my spare bedroom in my pajamas.

The first company who were happy to employ me to do online stuff was Facebook, and so far i've been working virtually for:

Apple

Google

Chromebook

BT

Xero

the National Grid… (and lots more I can’t remember right now)

Long story short, I’ve been able to work for lots of clients that I wouldn't normally, had I not pivoted to working online.
