How to repurpose your live illustrations - the ultimate guide

Become a repurposing whizz

- get every last drop of magic out of your live illustrations!

Hello, my name's Katie and I'm a live event illustrator.

This blog post is to talk you through aaall the different opportunities there are for repurposing your illustrations after an event.

p.s. I typed this out to please the Google blogging gods, but if you prefer to watch, just click play on the video above. I just got a fancy new filming set up and I’m here to show it off, ha!

1. Email it out afterwards!

This is a brilliant way to remind people what you've covered and just show off a bit. “Look what we did/see what a cool event you missed!”.

2. Share your illustrations on social media.

When I live illustrate for you, you get the illustration, and a time-lapse video.

That time-lapse video is perfect for social media sharing!

And it's really easy to turn the video into a GIF. The beauty of a GIF is that if you share it on Twitter, it automatically plays while people are scrolling through their feed. So you suck them in, it's magic. They don't have to go to all that effort of pressing play.

How to turn a video into a gif:

I made you this super quick tutorial using freebie internet stuff. Yisssss.

3. Blog about your event, and include the illustrations and timelapse video (just like I’m doing here!)

In a blog, you can explain what you've been doing. It's solid lasting evidence of your event.

Online events disappear quickly.

But when they’re illustrated, that creates a lasting legacy. (I didn’t say that, but The V&A said that after I illustrated their webinar series.) Namedropping. Not sorry ‘bout it.

4. Turn it into an illustrated explainer video

Some of my clients like to take that video timelapse I create, and add a voiceover to it, to explain what the meeting was about or what they're doing.

  • Adding some music can elevate your timelapse and make it seem like a more polished thing. It can be a little mini advert for your website or on social media.

  • Record a voiceover summing up your event in 60 seconds. BOOM. You are winning at the internet.
