Back for more! Warwick Business School returns for a second helping of visual storytelling!
Tell you what, we bloomin’ LOVE a return customer! We’re lucky enough to have quite a few of ‘em, too.
One of those returning customers is Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick. We dialled in to another event of theirs earlier this year, and our job was to capture a fantastic conversation with Professor John Colley, plus some in-depth, expert-led discussions around leadership.
The last time we collaborated with WBS, our live scribing shenanigans were in person - something we don’t actually do anymore. [You can have a spy on this blog post to learn why we’re virtual only now.]
Lo and behold… having worked with us before and liking what we did (thank you!), WBS trusted us to attend in a remote capacity this time - hurrah! So while their event was happening in person, we were able to join magically via the power of the internet and give a visual voice to the sessions.

Over to Katie for a glimpse into the return client multiverse!
- Did having a pre-established relationship have an impact on how you collaborated for this event in any way?
Absolutely! When we’ve worked with someone before, we already understand a bit more about their company, their organisation’s culture, what they like, and how they like to work, which makes everything run more smoothly. That said, new clients tend to settle in quickly too. We’re good at figuring out what works for each individual team.
- What was the difference between this time and the first time you worked together in terms of the client understanding the real impact of live event illustration?
I think our first-time clients have an inkling that live illustration is going to be a brilliant, creative way to make their event more engaging…
But repeat clients reeeally get it. They know exactly how good it’s going to be, and they’re often even more excited the second or third time around.
- What makes a return client so special for you?
Honestly, I just feel really honoured. In a world that’s full of noise and options, someone choosing to come back says a LOT! It tells us they had a great experience and want more of the same. That never gets old. We’re always, always grateful!
- What’s the most valuable thing (for you or for the client) about building long-term relationships with this type of work?
Ongoing relationships let us feel more like a partner than just a contractor. If a client runs a yearly event, we can come back each time with new creative ideas, extra ways to include more people, and a strong visual identity across their events. It saves them time, it makes us better at what we do, and it works brilliantly for everyone.
- What would you say to a new client considering a long-term collaboration for visual storytelling like this?
I know long-term collaboration can sound intense, like we’re getting married or something 😅. But really, it’s very relaxed! Try us out once, see how it feels. If you’ve got multiple events coming up, we do offer block booking discounts, and we can make sure you get the same illustrator across the whole thing if visual consistency is important to your events or project. You’ll only have to brief us once, and we’ll hit the ground running.

Why repeat clients make our world go round!
Basically, the reason we love our repeat clients is probably the same reason that our repeat customers come back to us!
It signals trust, reliability, and results. The stuff we want to provide IS HAPPENIN’ and when people want seconds and thirds, this is the best proof! So if you’re reading this and we’ve worked together before, thank you!
And whether you’re exploring live illustration for the first time, or you’ve been there and done that and are thinking “Oh BOY, it’s time we did that AGAIN”, we’re always here to chat things through if you’re keen to dig a little deeper.
Psst… just before you go… spoiler incoming!
Don’t forget to keep your peepers peeled for our next blog, where Katie will take you behind the scenes scribing at the job mentioned in this very post! See how we do it FOR REALZIES. There’ll be a video! It’s gonna be gooood.
Anyway, yes… do prod us in the inbox if you’re tempted to book Illustrated Live for your next event!
