How much does live illustration cost?

Live illustration (also called graphic recording or visual scribing) is priced based on time, complexity and experience. This page explains typical costs, what’s included, and why prices can vary so widely between artists.

Whenever I’m buying or booking something, I like to know how much it’s going to cost without having to fill in a form or * internal shudder * pick up the phone ☠️.

Life’s too short for boring events, and it’s also too short for keeping pricing a secret, so… here you go!

Here’s how much we charge for live event illustration and graphic recording.

We work all over the world both in-person and remotely, so fees do vary depending on what you need but this page should give you a nice idea of what to expect.

Most professional live illustration bookings
cost between:

£695 – £6,000 + VAT

That range covers short sessions, half days and full-day events, delivered remotely or in-the-room.

These figures are just for guidance. Every event’s different, and we’ll always recommend the simplest option that fits your needs :)

Illustrated Live example pricing packages

  • Short sessions (up to 1 hour):
    from £695

  • 90 minutes – 2 hours:
    typically £795–£1,050

  • Half day (around 3 hours):
    from £1650

  • Full day (up to 6 hours):
    from £3,000

If you’re paying from the UK, VAT is applicable.

What’s included (AKA what you’re actually paying for)

We don’t just turn up and draw…

Every booking with Illustrated Live includes:

  • Live illustration during your event (remote or in-person)

  • In-depth pre-event briefing so we know what your event’s about, and what your goals are for your illustrations

  • A tech rehearsal on the day, to make sure everything is behaving itself

  • A custom colour palette to match your brand

  • High-resolution digital illustration files

  • A timelapse video showing the illustrations coming together

  • A licence to share and reuse the visuals

  • Final shareable files delivered within 15–30 minutes of the session ending

Yep. You probably have.

However, a much lower price usually means you’re working with someone who’s still brand new to live events, rather than someone doing this regularly with big clients, complex content and mega busy schedules.

Lower-cost options often involve:

  • Little or no live event experience

  • No tech rehearsal or backup plan in case of illness etc.

  • Slower delivery of final files

  • Less clarity or structure in the visuals

  • More pressure on you if plans change mid-session

  • No licence - the upfront costs might be cheaper, but you could be hit with a big licencing fee depending on your illustration usage post-event.

For a lot of organisers, paying a bit more is really about buying peace of mind.
