Drawing Meetings on Zoom - How Does it Work?
One of my most common questions is ‘what does live illustration look like?’
How Live Illustrating a Zoom Meeting Works
Often, I’ll log into Zoom/TEAMS/whatever online meeting platform you are using for your meeting or conference, and the host will let everybody know that there is a live illustrator present.
It’s less distracting if I illustrate in the background, however, I do have fancy software that means my iPad screen can be visible the whole time if that’s something you’d like.
Sharing the Meeting Illustrations
During the break time, that’s a great opportunity to share the work so far and let everybody see the illustration. It can act as a kind of screen saver while everybody makes themselves a drink and gets ready for the next section of the online meeting.
At the very end of the summit/meeting/online event, it’s time for the grand reveal! This is the part that keeps your attendees engaged, and it’s a brilliant way to remind everybody of the key takeaways.
What Does it Look Like While You’re Drawing?
I know this can all be a bit abstract to explain, so here’s a timelapse video of me in action, live illustrating at an online conference for a company called Future Geo. You can see I’m drawing on my iPad Pro, and I have a spare screen to my side in case there are some terms I’m unfamiliar with (this was a geoscience conference…and I am not a scientist!)
